"Engaging the Youth Battalion" by encouraging students to assist with enrollment
DestacadaOn June 3, 2018, President Russell M. Nelson invited all the youth in the Church to “enlist in the youth battalion of the Lord” and take part in “the greatest challenge, the greatest cause, and the greatest work on earth” which he identified as the gathering of Israel.
“There is nothing of greater consequence,” President Nelson taught. “Absolutely nothing. This gathering should mean everything to you. This is the mission for which you were sent to earth.”
Research has shown that participation in seminary and institute classes is the leading influence in young people remaining on the covenant path. Therefore, our efforts to enroll more students in seminary and institute programs is directly connected to the gathering of Israel. Like President Nelson, we should be doing all we can to encourage and enlist "the youth battalion" to assist in enrollment efforts.
Please share anything you are doing to prepare and encourage the youth to invite their friends to "come and see" and attend seminary or institute. How are you utilizing student leadership and councils? How are you working with ward and stake youth or YSA councils and committees? What success have you seen from these efforts?

One of the most effective things we've done is empower our youth to take ownership of seminary and institute enrollment efforts through their own creativity and testimony. We've invited student leaders to form an “invite” committee as part of our class presidency or council structure, where they plan and lead outreach efforts like "Bring a Friend Day" or themed devotionals.
We’ve also partnered closely with ward and stake youth councils. For example, we worked with a stake YSA committee to host a combined devotional and activity night on a local college campus, and student leaders personally invited friends from classes and social media. The result was several non-enrolled students attending institute for the first time—and some returning the next week.
Success has come when we focus on sincere invitation, fun and welcoming events, and helping students understand why seminary and institute matter in the context of the gathering of Israel. One young woman shared her testimony during a presidency meeting and said, “When I bring my friends, I’m helping them feel the Spirit and move closer to Christ. That’s the best kind of missionary work I can do right now.”
We’ve learned that when youth feel trusted and supported, they rise to the call - just like President Nelson promised.

Love this! I especially appreciate how you're giving youth real responsibility and letting them lead the effort. That kind of ownership really helps the invitations feel authentic and Spirit-led. Thanks for sharing!
